Inaugural NESTAC meeting, introducing the academy vision, including talks from representatives from every surgical specialty and the opportunity to network.

  • 9:00-9:20: Welcome Talk from RCSEng President Prof Derek Alderson
  • 9:20-09:40: Prof A Fisher TBC – Dean of Clinical Medicine, Newcastle University
  • 09:40 – 10:00: How the College of Surgeons supports research. Martyn Coomer – Head of Research Dept RCSEng
  • 10:00 -10:20: North East Surgical Training Academy (NESTAC) – mission statement and website launch
  • 10:20-10:40: Research opportunities as a medical student and trainee

  • 11:00-11:15: Opportunities in Collaborative Research. Representative from NoSTRA
  • 11:15-12:45: Surgical Specialties Research Snapshots. Mr Colin Wilson to chair a session with representatives from each of the major surgical specialties; Transplant/HPB, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Neurosurgery, Breast Surgery, Colorectal, Vascular, Upper GI, Plastics, Cardiothoracics
